Karen Pompay Top Female Finisher at TOBAY Triathlon
Garden City runner finishes overall with a time of 01:06:01.57.
A Garden City resident showed off her strength and endurance over the weekend placing first in the Town of Oyster Bay triathlon Saturday.
Karen Pompay, 42, was the first female finisher overall in Saturday's event with a time of 01:06:01.57. Pompay, who has competed in several endurance events in the past, turned in a swimming time of 00:14:10.09, a cycling time of 00:27:23.00 and a running time of 00:22:11.39.
Jennifer Gerland, 16, also of Garden City, placed first in the "01-19 age division," finishing with a time of 01:14:30.58. Courtney Chmil, 19, also of Garden City, finished fifth in the same age division with a time of 01:37:23.70.
Bradie Ann Dwyer, 27, finished first in the 25-29 age division with a time of 01:15:41.76. In the 40-44 age division, Robert Votruba, 41, finished first with 01:08:26.50.
The overall men's winner was Tom Eicklberg, 24, of Cortland, NY, who finished the triathlon in 00:56:17.83.
