Lady Trojans Lacrosse Heads Into Playoffs Undefeated

Garden City is 15-0 on the season, no. 1 in New York State and no. 3 in the nation.

The Garden City varsity girls lacrosse team has had an undefeated (15-0) season this year, and recently defeated Cold Spring Harbor May 12 in a Conference B-I/ Conference C crossover game. They will play their first playoff game Friday against Lynbrook.

There are nine seniors on the team, and the starters are: Mikaela Rix, Barbara Sullivan, Kelly Weis, Caroline Tarzian, Gabby Nesi and Kate Butche. Other seniors include Lauren Engleke, Erin Mullins and Krysta Cento.

"They are great leaders on and off the field," says head coach Diane Chapman. "They would love to get to the state tournament."

"The coaching staff is very proud of the hard work the team has put in during the regular season. Now they have to continue their hard work to accomplish their goal," said Chapman.

Tarzian, one of the star players for the Trojans, commented on the team's success: "We're happy that we are where we are. We had a great season, everyone is really close and we're going to continue to work hard. All our scoring and assists have been spaced out, so everyone has been a part of our success."

Weis, goalie, added, "We're all very happy. We played very talented teams this season."

Friday's game is at Garden City High School at 4:30 p.m.
