Garden City's Sports Program Among the Best in NYS

Garden City ranked #2 in the Class A division, based on points scored by both boys and girls teams at the high school in seven sports.

The New York State Sportswriters Association has recognized the Garden City school district's sports program among the best in the state.

Garden City ranked #2 in the Class A division, based on points scored by both boys and girls teams at the high school in seven sports - girls track, girls golf, boys lacrosse, girls basketball, boys swimming, girls track and girls fencing.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Feirsen congratulates athletic director Nancy Kalafus, her entire coaching staff and the girls and boys of Garden City’s 2012-2013 sports teams on the honor.

“Garden City gratefully acknowledges the NYS Sportswriters Association 2012-13 NYSSWA Kerr Cup combined boys and girls leaders second place ranking of the top five Class A schools in New York State," he said.

"The high caliber of the Garden City’s sports program is well known. It is an integral part of our students’ educational experience. Participating in athletics teaches valuable team-building and problem solving skills vital to success in college, career and life."

2. Garden City (7), 35.67 points 
3. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (3), 32.5 points 
4. Troy (4), 31.5 points
