'Friday Night Promenade' Continues On Seventh

Garden City's new initiative dubbed "Friday Night Promenade" continues Friday on Seventh Street, which will be closed to all vehicular traffic between 6 and 10 p.m.

Friday's music will be provided by rock band Plastic Soul. Seventh Street restaurants and merchants will welcome residents and visitors alike.

"Pay it forward, spend our dollars in our downtown while meeting neighbors and new friends," John Wilton, chair of the Professional Merchant Retailers group, said.

The program kicked off July 5 and will continue every Friday through August.

"I am looking forward to seeing many residents and visitors on Seventh Street as we continue to close Seventh Street, between Franklin and Hilton avenues, each Friday evening, so that residents and visitors to Garden City can enjoy the outdoor dining and live entertainment offered by local restaurants as well as shopping in the stores and shops who will remain open during the evening. I hope that you make it a point to bring your family out to see all that is offered each Friday evening in the village," mayor John Watras said.
