Get Into the Spirit of the Olympics at the LI Children's Museum

"Origin of the Olympics" workshop kicks off Monday.

Visitors to the Long Island Children's Museum can get into the Olympic spirit with a fun workshop titled "Origin of the Olympics" on Monday at 1 p.m.

The workshop will introduce families to the history of the Olympics and how it has evolved over the years from its start in ancient Greece. Did you know that vases were originally used to record athletic highlights? Children will receive modeling clay to create ancient Greek vase replicas that they will paint with designs that represent different events. The program is designed for children five years and up. The fee is $3 with museum admission ($2 LICM members).

All activities will be held at the Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Museum admission is $11 for adults and children over 1 year old; under 1 year old free and $10 seniors. Additional fees for theater and special programs may apply. For additional information, contact 516-224-5800 or visit www.licm.org.
