Circus Train Snarls Garden City Traffic

Annual trek causes congestion on Clinton Road, Stewart Avenue.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus train's annual trek through Garden City Monday caused the usual traffic woes, particularly at Clinton Road and Saint James St. North and South, where MTA and Garden City police were on scene from approximately 1 p.m. on.

The southbound lanes of Washington Avenue and Clinton Road, south of Stewart Avenue, were also closed to afternoon traffic for more than an hour as the train cars slowly made their way east.

The train's passing drew a crowd near the east firehouse for adults and children alike.

The trek continues into this evening as the elephants take to the streets near the Long Island Children's Museum before coming to a stop at the Nassau Coliseum, where shows kick off this weekend.
