Adelphi Art Professor and Alum Lead the Way with Creative Cups

Dale Flashner and Beth Tenser, co-founders of Creative Cups, create "The Color of Hope" for fundraiser.

It’s appropriate that the first Creative Cup to arrive at the Adelphi Breast Cancer Hotline has been created by two people closely associate with Adelphi - graphic art professor Dale Flashner and alum Beth Tenser.

Flashner and Tenser are the co-founders of Creative Cups, a fundraiser held every other year to support the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program in which members of the community turn ordinary bras into works of art, such as their “The Color of Hope.” The two built the bra in memory of their mothers.

“I had a great time in the crafts store looking for items that would work well with my theme,” says Flashner.

The finished bras are due by Oct. 15 and professional photos will be included in an artbook. Flashner invites people in the community to get involved with Creative Cups. “Even those who aren’t making bras can help by becoming sponsors and certainly coming to the auction next March,” he added.
