Items of the Week from the A.T. Stewart Exchange: Evening Bags, Jewelry

Candlesticks, evening bags, jewelry, paperweights and tabletop accessories are all in the spotlight this week.

This week's feature from The A.T. Stewart Exchange includes candlesticks, evening bags, jewelry, paperweights and tabletop accessories.

From the top shelf down, we're featuring wrought iron and crystal 12" candle holders priced at $45/pair, pewter candlesticks at $30/pair and brown, mosaic candle holders at $22/pair.

In between the candlesticks are lovely rose and hydrangea bouquets, offered for $16 each. On the next shelf, we have a wonderful assortment of evening bags. The selection includes fabric, tapestry, gold mesh (Whiting & Davis) and beautiful beaded bags. The prices start at $18 and run up to $50. Each purse is in mint condition. If you need an evening bag, stop here before going to a department store!

The third shelf offers various paperweights and Dresden lace figurines. We have a glass "whale" paperweight for $22.50, a glass "fish" for $45, a glass "world" for $10, an "apple" for $9 and a Tiffany "sphere" for $75. The Dresden-lace figurines are all marked on the bottom with the crown and a "D" inside the crown. Prices start at $21 - for the ballerina and for the lady with the parasol, $24 for the bride and $26 for the couple.

On the fourth shelf, we have Bora watches for $18 each in various color bands, three-strand, crystal beaded necklace at $18, heart brooches for $18 each and intriguing, feather pins for $9 each. The last display offers lined, leather gloves and all are reasonably priced from $24 to $30/pair. All items are available at the time of posting.

The A.T. Stewart Exchange (consignment shop), located on the lower level of the Garden City Historical Society, offers unique items for sale and is run by volunteers. Founded in 1975, The Garden City Historical Society is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. All profits go to the restoration of the Museum.

The shop is located at 109 Eleventh Street in Garden City, just west of Franklin Avenue, 746-8900. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and from noon until 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
