WPOA Seeks Applicants for Officers and Directors

Any resident of the West interested in seeking office or joining the WPOA board of directors is urged to submit a letter of interest and a resume.

The Western Property Owners' Association (WPOA) is seeking applicants for positions as officers (one-year term) and directors (three-year terms); these terms begin in April 2012.

According to the WPOA by-laws, all officer positions—president, vice president, secretary and treasurer—are one-year terms, and therefore, each position will become open for election.

In addition, the terms of the following positions on the board of directors are expiring: Public Works, Finances and Taxes, and Parks and Landscaping. After the president is seated at the April 15 general meeting, he or she will appoint those individuals who have been elected as directors to their positions on the board.

Any resident of the western section of the village interested in seeking office or joining the WPOA board of directors is urged to submit a letter of interest and a resume to: Carol Whalen, WPOA secretary, 41 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, NY 11530. The deadline for application is March 1. All applications will then be reviewed by the Nominating Committee, and interviews will be conducted as needed. The committee will present its selections for election at the April general meeting.

The western section of Garden City is bordered on the north by the main line of the LIRR, on the east by the west side of Tanners Pond and Edgemere roads, on the south by Cambridge Avenue and on the west by Jefferson Street.
