Update: Power Outages Reported in Garden City

Restoration is expected by 9:30 p.m.

Update: As of 8:15 p.m. 36 households in Garden City are still without power, according to the Long Island Power Authority's outage map. Restoration has been delayed by three hours, now expected by 9:30 p.m.

Original: As Long Island braces for wet and windy weather, more than 30 households in Garden City are already without power, according to the Long Island Power Authority's (LIPA) outage map.

A total of 36 outages have been reported as of 4:30 p.m. Crews have been assigned to some of the affected areas, with expected restoration by 6:30 p.m. Monday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for both Nassau and Suffolk counties until 10 p.m. this evening. Possible thunder and lightning, as well as winds gusting up to 38 miles per hour, are expected Monday evening.
