Seasonal Schizophrenia: Is It Fall or Winter?

Strange weather conditions continue.

Between the devastation from Hurricane Sandy and now the Nor'easter snows that dumped at least six inches last night, Garden City residents are wondering what will happen next week. Locusts?

Garden City has had some unusual seasonal schizophrenia. Winter officially starts Friday, Dec. 21, but right now homeowners can't tell if it's fall or winter.

Weather predictions indicate a warming trend for the weekend. Therefore, the white stuff will disappear as quickly as it arrived.

In the meantime, look out for unseen wires snaking across streets, as well as snow-covered branches and debris. Using a broom, please gently dust off all plants and trees on your property to prevent further breakage, since all plants are stressed with the weight of wet snow. Local highways have downed wires and trees, so avoid driving on them if possible.
