Weather Alert: Snow Expected On and Off Until Friday

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Upton has issued a winter weather advisory for Garden City.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Upton has issued a winter weather advisory for Garden City 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 p.m. Thursday.

A wind advisory remains in effect through 6 p.m. Thursday as gusts of up to 50 mph are possible. The strongest winds are expected Wednesday night through Thursday morning.

Rain is expected to continue before 9 p.m. Wednesday, then rain and snow between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m., then snow after 12 a.m. Less than one inch possible tonight. New snow accumulation of around an inch is possible Thursday. An additional 1 to 3 inches is possible Thursday night.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties; a wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph or gusts of 46 to 57 mph are expected or occurring.
