Why is this being reported on the Malverne-West Hempstead-Lynbrook Patch and not the Five TownsRead More Patch? We don't get much Five Towns news through Patch any more!

Nassau is in deep financial trouble, and now they have given huge raises. To pay for that, theyRead More install these cameras, which will not raise nearly enough to pay for the raises, plus huge pension obligations. It's ironic they put them in front of schools, who can't pull financial tricks like this to pay for their employees, but instead have to rely on local tax payers and state school aid. BTW, Long Islands share of school aid will keep on dropping, thanks to the governor and legislators in Albany. Yet not one of the Albany cronies will be kicked out of office. Any wonder people are moving away in droves?
Robert Demarco July 25, 2014 at 08:56 am
BobbiJo, if you look at campaign donations to these County politicians, I would bet the the redRead More light camera companies are contributors. Long Island politicians are so disgustingly corrupt.
Robert Demarco July 25, 2014 at 08:59 am
Revenue will drop from these cameras as drivers adjust to their presence. So this is just anotherRead More short term revenue gimmick from undisciplined politicians who do not know how to control spending.

I saw a dog yesterday at about 11;30 a.m. that looked like mya. had a red collar and was eating fromRead More what looked like garbage bag ,just past Rits;s bar going south on Broadway. The dog looked like it was hungry. Don't stop looking for her . If I had not been alone I would have stopped and looked closer . Good luck I will keep my eyes pealed.
CD July 25, 2014 at 08:06 am
Free advice: Don't tie your dog up when you "run into the store for just a minute". YouRead More wouldn't tie your kid up, would you? Show you're responsible enough to own a dog and leave the it at home if you need to run an errand.

MT/Sag Harbor July 25, 2014 at 07:41 am
Why do we that live out east have to be exposed to a murder in brooklyn. i do not see any reasonRead More that that kind of morbid news should be posted on your Southampton Patch, or any Patch, other than Brooklyn, website...I really think it brings the quality of our life down as well as your website.
11779 July 25, 2014 at 08:22 am
We have this because the Patch is hurting....All of our patches from Sachem to Southampton USED toRead More be local news, neighborhood news. If you notice all of the news stories no matter how far or wherever located are all on one patch now. The neighborhood might change but the agenda is the same across LI. So yes your Sag Harbor bubble burst and you have to deal with drugs, murders, and tragedy just like the rest of the island unfortunately. ...

Robert Demarco July 24, 2014 at 01:34 pm

It's not minorities that are the issue...I don't see Asians or Jews or Hispanics or IndiansRead More committing 90% of all violent and property crime in Nassau and Suffolk counties. It's one minority. It's sad and unfortunate, but it's true.

Nothing is enough to bring back this great husband and father of three. People need to think beforeRead More the get behind the wheel. This driver might have been really high, but how many of us "think" we're okay, and "we don't have far" or "I'll drive careful" You don have to be bombed to do real damage to a person or a car, and wreck your own life in the process, along with whoever you hit.
