Pedestrian Killed Crossing Jerusalem Avenue A Hempstead man was killed Tuesday night when he was struck by a car while crossing Jerusalem Avenue. According to detectives, a 1998 Dodge Durango, traveling East on Jerusalem Avenue, struck Salvador Duran, 50, of Hempstead, on May 8 at 11:50 p.m. while he was attempting to cross south to north on Jerusalem Avenue near Florence Avenue. The victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced at 12:40 am by hospital staff. There is no criminality involved in this accident. Hundreds of workers forced out of Franklin Avenue building Monday.
Several hundred workers were forced to evacuate their office building in Garden City Monday morning due to a small brush. Garden City village firefighters and police responded to 1325 Franklin Ave. around 10:30 a.m. after receiving a report of an unidentified odor throughout the building. Since the building's automatic alarm system was out of service, Garden City F.D. had to request mutual aid. Firefighters from New Hyde Park and Mineola came to assist them in "manually" evacuating the building, going door-to-door on each floor, instructing the employees to move outside, Garden City Fire Chief Charles Cavarra told Patch. Two cars collide in Garden City Sunday morning.
A two-car crash on New Hyde Park Road left one person injured Sunday morning. A small sedan collided with a minivan, sending it into a sign post and the minivan onto a nearby front lawn of a home on Yale Street. Village police and Nassau County EMS were on the scene to assist the injured.

Teens Robbed at Gunpoint in Lakeview Two teenage boys were reportedly robbed at gunpoint Thursday night by a group of men while they were walking to a bus stop in Lakeview. According to police, the robbery occurred near Tanglewood Road around 10 p.m. The two victims, ages 14 and 17, apparently had their jewelry, sneakers and cell phones taken by a group of four or five unknown men. The subjects had bandanas covering their faces and fled northbound on Tanglewood Road, police reported. No additional description of the subjects is available at this time. Apri 25: Two employees’ wallets, containing cash and credit cards, were stolen from the work area of a Franklin Avenue business. April 25: Garden City detectives arrested a student for posting a bomb threat in the Middle School on April 20. The student, a juvenile, was charged with felony falsely reporting of an incident. The matter will be adjudicated by the Family Court of Nassau County. The investigation is continuing in regards to the bomb threat at the same location on April 23, as well as other possible suspects. Firefighters and police respond to accident on Nassau Boulevard.
A pregnant woman was pinned in her car Wednesday evening after her vehicle collided with another on Nassau Boulevard in Garden City Park. The accident occurred around 6 p.m. and Garden City Park firefighters were on the scene quickly. They were able to extracate the woman from her car within 15 minutes. She did not suffer any serious injuries, according to Nassau County Police officers, who also responded to the crash. She was transported to the hospital though, along with two children, who were passengers in the other vehicle. Cops say the kids were in stable condition and did not appear to be injured. Police could not release specific details about the crash, but they suspected that one of the drivers may have run the traffic light at …

Man, Two Teens Robbed at Gunpoint in West Hempstead Three co-workers were robbed at gunpoint as they were returning home from work and parking their van on Birch Street in West Hempstead late Saturday night. According to detectives, two black men approached a 28-year-old man and his co-workers, ages 17 and 18, near the Hempstead Gardens Long Island Rail Road Station and demanded their money.
