Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival at Adelphi University on October 4

Adelphi University is proud to announce that the Chinese Students and Scholars Associaiton (CSSA) and International Students Society (ISS) are hosting Mid-Autumn Festival 2013: A Cultural Reunion. This time honored celebration will showcase traditional and modern performances by guest and students such as the Peking Opera, Zichan Faceturn Hostile and Chinese musical composition, to name a few. The event, open to the public, will be held on Friday, October 4 at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AUPAC) Concert Hall, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The doors will open at 7:00 p.m.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a Chinese celebration of harvest. Family members have a grand reunion, pray to the moon for a good harvest, and rejoice over the year’s harvest by preparing varieties of mooncakes. The festival to celebrate harvest is not only limited to China, but also extends to many Southeast Asian cultures. Harvest is indeed a universal phenomenon and brings equal joy to all farmers around the world, as much as it does to the families in China. Therefore, this year at Adelphi, CSSA joins with ISS to bring some of the best harvest festival activities from around the world—a true cultural reunion.

Admission is $5.00 and it includes a raffle chance to win an iPad mini. To RSVP or for questions, please contact cssa@adelphi.edu. View the video from last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival http://bit.ly/1h1PYnQ.
