Update: Tanners Pond Reopened After Accident
Oil spilled from the vehicles involved created dangerous driving conditions.
Oil coated Tanners Pond Road and caused police to close the street for several blocks after an accident.
According to Nassau County Police, a car accident was reported at around 4 p.m. Thursday on Tanners Pond Road.
Oil spilled from the vehicles involved created dangerous driving conditions. Garden City Fire and Police crews quickly closed Tanners Pond Road to traffic between Stewart Avenue and Stratford Avenue.

Garden City Police and Department of Public Works crews said the road would be shut until further notice as they address the hazardous driving conditions.
As of 7 p.m., the road was reopened.
