National Night Out: Making Garden City An Even Safer Place to Live
Commissioner Kenneth Jackson said the event was a "rewarding experience" for police officers, who received positive feedback from the residents.
The Garden City Police Department, along with staff of the Garden City Recreation Department, conducted a community program titled “National Night Out” at Garden City Community Park Tuesday.
“'National Night Out’ is a program conducted in communities throughout the country where local police departments and their community form a partnership to make their town/village a safer place to live by encouraging the community to:
-report crime or suspicious activity as soon as it happens,
-take necessary steps to prevent crime,

-join and/or support local community organizations that address crime, and other important quality of life issues,
-discuss with your family what to do in case of an emergency and,

-help make children aware of the dangers of drugs and alcohol, as well as teaching them what to do when approached by strangers
During this program Commissioner Jackson, Inspector Doyle, Detective Pedone and Special Police Officer Imperatore greeted residents at various locations within the park and discussed issues that affect the safety and welfare of the community.
Commissioner Jackson stated this event was a rewarding experience for police officers, who received positive feedback from the residents.
