A manhunt is underway for Sang Ho Kim, who shot two people, one fatally, inside an East Garden City office Wednesday morning.

The shooting took place at Savenergy, which is located at 645 South Street in the industrial area near Stewart Avenue. Kim was a company vender.

Police said Kim, believed to be about 63 years old, entered the building at 10:11 a.m., confronted the employees and began shooting, striking two male victims. One victim died while the second victim is in surgery at an area hospital.

Kim fled in a white Honda Pilot, New York license plate number FMA3648, police said. He was last seen wearing a red shirt with a grey or brown suit jacket, according to a police report.

The public is urged to call 911 if they see Kim, who is considered "armed and dangerous."

During the investigation, several roads were shut down around Roosevelt Field Mall.

A spokeswoman confirmed that the mall was put on lockdown at approximately 10:45 a.m. and no one was permitted to enter the mall, though shoppers were allowed to leave.

At about 2:30 p.m., the mall on its Facebook page said Nassau County police gave them clearance to reopen safely, though customers should call individual retailers to ensure they are open.

Garden City Schools, including nearby Stewart Elementary School, were placed on lock out in response to the incident, superintendent Dr. Robert Feirsen said. The lock out was lifted at 1:53 p.m., district officials confirmed.

St. Joseph School and the Waldorf School of Garden City were also placed on lock out and Nassau Community College on lockdown this afternoon. Normal activities have since resumed at both schools and the college.

Also, Garden City Village was robo-calling residents, stating that their police department was on the lookout, but that there was no immediate threat.
