Woman Robbed on Somerset Avenue

The 23-year-old victim was pushed to the ground and her pocketbook containing a cell phone, iPad and unknown amount of money was forcibly removed, according to police.

A woman was pushed to the ground and robbed while walking on Somerset Avenue Tuesday evening, after leaving the Merillon Avenue train station, Nassau County police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m.

According to detectives, the 23-year-old woman was walking on Somerset Avenue in the vicinity of Weyford Terrace when she was approached from behind by an unknown African American man.

The victim was pushed to the ground and her pocketbook containing a cell phone, iPad and unknown amount of money was forcibly removed, according to police.

The suspect, described as 5’09” tall, thin build, wearing burgundy colored sweatpants, a black sweatshirt and black ski hat, fled on foot eastbound on Somerset Avenue to northbound Meadbrook Avenue, according to the police report.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries to her head and knees.
