Fifth Graders Send Anti-Bullying Message

Stewart and Stratford students participate in Anti-Bullying Clothesline Project.

Fifth grade students at Stewart and Stratford Schools recently participated in the Anti-Bullying Clothesline Project in art class with the help of art teachers George Lucas at Stratford and Melissa Pashayan at Stewart School.

Students were asked to design a T-shirt with an anti-bullying message or slogan. The bright orange shirts were then displayed around the school to encourage all students in the building to be “upstanders” – students who model good behavior and take steps to intervene if they witness a bullying incident.

“This project was one of the many activities implemented to promote healthy choices and behaviors during October’s Bullying Prevention month as well as throughout the year,” social worker Michele Vincent said.

The Garden City Community Coalition also supported the project.
