GCAA Donates Baseball Equipment to Sandy Victims

A bulk of the donated items went to the Oceanside National League.

As part of its community service, New York Life Insurance Company in Melville partnered with the non-profit organization, Pitch In For Baseball, to bring baseball back to little leagues in areas affected by Superstorm Sandy.

When Maya Bensen, an agent with New York Life's Jericho office, whose three boys have been playing ball for the Garden City Athletic Association (GCAA) for years, reached out to Joe Griffin, GCAA president, she was overwhelmed with response.

The GCAA donated two full truck-loads of mostly new or very lightly used baseball equipment, including uniforms, bats, hundreds of baseballs, catchers vests and helmets and much more.

A bulk of the donated items went to the Oceanside National League. The rest will be dispersed in other areas of Long Island and North Jersey.
