Girls Celebrate Senior Day With a Win

Garden City scored three goals in the second half to ensure the victory over Plainedge.

The girls varsity soccer team honored their graduating seniors with a big 4-0 victory over Plainedge. Coaches Mike Heedles and the mustachioed Scott McCauley were all smiles before the match as they walked across the field with the team to present the seniors to their parents.

Seniors Haley O'Hanlon, Katherine Malhame, Taylor Carpentier, Kayla Murphy, Caroline Beaty, Kaitlin Shea and Nicole Chtchekine brought with them red roses for their parents.

In a tight first half Garden City produced the only goal of the match as Kristen Adams followed up a ball that Caroline Beaty put on goal and beat the defenders to the loose ball for the score.

The second half was more open and the Lady Trojans had more of the play. With goals by Lauren Miesemer, Kayla Murphy and a second one for Adams the girls had a 4-0 home victory on Senior Day.

Come watch the last home game against division leader South Side on Monday afternoon.
