Hardly any point in doing 30 mph on Stewart Ave. when the lights are timed perfectly for peopleRead More going 45-50 mph. Re-time the lights and watch what happens. You'll get a lot less people cutting through the village as well. And you didn't even need to pay m $200K to come up with that idea. You're welcome.

The town is reluctant to put up stop signs or lights when needed. They want to pretend its 1935.Read More Unfortunately the town is a traffic pass through area because we are on the heels of Roosevelt Field mall, Old Country Road, and Nassau County courts and municipal buildings. We need some changes to reflect reality. We need a double turning land on Stewart Ave right in front of the middle school, heading toward the hotel. One left turn lane is insufficient at rush hour. At the very least the second land should be a combined left turn or straight ahead lane . When people are forceably slowed down the result is NOT more safety, its ROAD RAGE!! We need a LIGHT in front of the middle school where a teacher was struck last year. Crossing there is far too dangerous. We need a light or two by the high school. We need the town to get on the case of folks who live at corner intersections and allow their overgrown shrubs to block driver visibility, as well as the side walks a pedestrian might want to walk on. . Tickets should be issued for this. We need to adjust to reality if we want safety. We have a TON of cars going through town and we are stuck with it. . Making them all drive 5 mph is not the answer. Some lights and better flow could help us.

Sounds like the CSEA is surprised that Village residents are finally paying attention to not onlyRead More the bloated staffing levels in most departments, but the abuse of overtime to do things like weekend leaf clearing and hydrant flushing, and the lack of focus by department heads on increasing efficiency and saving money. BOT: DO NOT BACK DOWN. Force the unions to make concessions and department heads to maintain services WITH fewer people -- just like the private sector -- and DO NOT back down on the layoffs. Hold department heads accountable. Too many have been in place for decades. Time to make changes and bring in people with new ideas.
