Officials Break Ground on Homestead School Addition

Project will create a new multi-purpose art/music/library room, an additional classroom and needed storage space.

On Sept. 15, school district and local officials joined with Homestead teachers and principal Dr. Suzanne Viscovich to break ground for the new addition at the school.

Present at the groundbreaking to kick off the construction were board of education members Angela Heineman, Laura Hastings and Tom Pinou, superintendent of schools Dr. Robert Feirsen and assistant superintendents Dr. Teresa Prendergast, Al Chase and Dr. Fino Celano, facilities director Patrick Mehr, Sen. Kemp Hannon, mayor Donald Brudie, Western Property Owners' Association (WPOA) president Tom Whalen and chamber of commerce executive director Althea Robinson.

Part of the community-approved 2009 School Investment Bond, the addition will expand the school’s interior, creating a new multi-purpose art/music/library room, an additional classroom and much needed storage space.
