Garden City Residents Monitoring Airplane Noise

Represent village at June TVASNAC meeting.

Several Garden City residents attended the June 27 Town-Village Aircraft Safety and Noise Abatement Committee (TVASNAC) meeting, including Peter Damiano, Arnold Finamore, Evelyn Maffucci, village trustee Larry Quinn, TVASNAC board member and chair of Garden City's Environmental Advisory Board (EAB), Gina Fornasar and Garden City EAB member Liz Bailey.

Quinn and Damiano were joined by TVASNAC board members Cristina O’Keeffe (Stewart Manor) and Ray Gaudio (East Williston) in calling for the FAA and Port Authority to reduce the number of JFK aircraft arrivals using runway 22L.

The 134 percent increase in the use of runway 22L from 2004 to 2009 concomitantly increases the large number of flights over Garden City, Stewart Manor, Mineola and East Williston in comparison with the number of flights of neighboring villages, Quinn and Damiano said.
