The top five things you need to know on July 21:

1. Boil-Water Alert: A boil-water order was issued for parts of Nassau County, including portions of the village of Garden City, late Wednesday after a water sample taken in North Valley Stream tested positive for E. coli. Until further notice, residents are urged to boil their water or use bottled water. Read more here.

2. Heat Wave: With temperatures expected to creep to triple digits by Saturday, Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) officials say they will have extra crews available to address any heat-related outages that may arise as residents crank up their air conditioning to battle the hot and humid weather. 3. Parking Field #12: Work in Parking Field #12 is being done in four phases; each phase is expected to last three to four weeks. Phase #1 is now completed; that portion of the parking field will re-open today while the northern half of the parking field will close for Phase #2.

4. Concert on the Village Green: The Tercels will sing your favorite oldies on the village green tonight as the recreation department's summer concert series continues. Show kicks off at 7:15 p.m. If case of inclement weather, show will be moved to Cluett Hall at St. Paul's.

5. Board of Trustees Meeting: Garden City's village board of trustees meets at 8 p.m. in the village hall boardroom to discuss a full agenda. The public is invited to attend.
