Police: Woman Tried to Kill Husband During Domestic Dispute

Argument turns physical between husband and wife on Pine Street.

A Garden City woman was arrested at her Pine Street home Sunday after attempting to kill her husband during a domestic incident, according to Nassau County Third Squad detectives.

The incident, according to police, occurred at 6:07 p.m. Detectives state that Elizabeth Marrinan, 47, was arguing with her 57-year-old husband and when the argument turned physical Marrinan took a steak knife and stabbed her husband in the chest.

Garden City police responded to the scene and placed her under arrest without incident, according to a police report. Marrinan's husband was taken to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment. He is listed in critical condition.

Marrinan is charged with attempted murder, 2nd degree; assault, 1st degree; and possession of a dangerous weapon, 4th degree. She is slated for arraignment today in First District Court in Hempstead.
