Walking the Runway at Lord & Taylor

Despite the heat wave, it felt like fall.

Customers walking into Lord & Taylor Garden City Saturday were treated to a fashion trend show that featured upcoming fall couture and cosmetics from leading designers in the industry.

Before models hit the runway, spectators were treated to breakfast provided by the gourmet restaurant Sarabeth's, located on the store's second floor. Customers also received a complimentary tote bag filled with cosmetic samples from different companies.

The show opened with remarks from Joseph Ricaurte, vice president and general manager of Lord & Taylor Garden City. After each model, a name was pulled out of a box for a chance to win a basket filled with cosmetic items from different designers. Allison Becker, the personal fashion advisor at Lord & Taylor Garden City, was the master of ceremonies and described each model's wardrobe.

Models had a makeover from one of the cosmetic companies, including Bobbi Brown, Lancôme, Dior, Laura Mercier, NARS, Borghese, Clinique, Chanel, Elizabeth Arden, Shiseido and Estee Lauder. In addition, they were adorned with clothing and accessories from leading designers in the industry. As the models walked the runway, makeup artists described the cosmetic products used.

After the fashion show, each cosmetic line offered special events. Customers were able to have professional photographs taken, receive mini-facials and complimentary makeovers and take home samples of new cosmetic products.
