Franklin Avenue was closed in both directions early Wednesday after an SUV overturned between Sixth and Seventh streets.

The vehicle was traveling southbound when the driver lost control, went up on the curb, struck a fire hydrant and a light pole and then overturned on its roof.

The lone occupant was able to escape from the SUV and suffered only minor injuries.

Northbound traffic was diverted eastbound to Chestnut Street when a small box truck struck the Chestnut Street underpass of the LIRR.

The truck was broken apart but the driver was uninjured.
