The Hofstra community is mourning the loss of a freshman who was found dead in his dorm room Friday morning.
Officers rushed to Hofstra after receiving a 911 call and found Conor Wynne, 20, of Trumbull, Conn., unresponsive in his room, reported Nassau County Police. Wynne was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:50 a.m. by a Nassau County EMT, cops said.
A medical examiner is determining the cause of Wynne's death, which police say they suspect was not a criminal act.
Meanwhile, thousands of Hofstra students are mourning Wynne's untimely death.
"The entire Hofstra community is saddened by the loss of Conor Wynne," the university wrote on Facebook of the first-year marketing student.
"As a community, we mourn for Conor and extend our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time."
Hofstra is offering student counseling services and other supportive programs for students to help cope with the loss. Read more about the services here.
