Cops Searching for Gunman in Fatal Shooting

Man found in car in Hempstead with gunshot wounds died minutes after police responded, cops said.

Nassau County Police are searching for information about a fatal shooting this weekend in Hempstead.

Hempstead Police were called to 137 Princeton Street at 1:20 a.m. Saturday for possible shots fired, cops said. Responding officers said they found Shawn T. Boone, 26, in a car with a gunshot wound. Boone was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 a.m. by Long Island Jewish Hospital ambulance personnel, cops said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
