Crime Blotter: Burglar Kicks in Rear Door, Gains Entry to Russell Road Home

The subject then kicked in a bedroom door and was met by a 16-year-old resident who was asleep. The subject then fled the scene.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 11: Several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen from a Hamilton Place apartment. There was no sign of forced entry into the residence.

Dec. 12: An investigation by Garden City detectives at the Merillon Avenue train station resulted in the arrest of a male 31-year-old from Garden City and a male 44-year-old from New Hyde park for possession of crack/cocaine.

Dec. 13: A cell phone was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Sears.

Dec. 13: A male subject entered a Russell Road residence by kicking in the rear door and then kicked in a bedroom door and was met by a 16-year-old resident who was asleep. The subject then fled the scene. No loss reported at this time. Garden City and Nassau County detectives are continuing this burglary investigation.

Dec. 14: A wristlet containing $60 and credit cards was reported lost or stolen on the Adelphi University campus.

Dec. 14: An appearance ticket for soliciting without a permit was issued to a Huntington company after two representatives from the company were observed on the Adelphi University campus handing out advertisement booklets.

Dec. 15: At 3:15 p.m., Officer Walsh observed a male 59-year-old sitting on his bicycle smoking PCP from a pipe. He was also in possession of a foil packet containing PCP. He was subsequently arrested for two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Dec. 16: Officer Oswald stopped a vehicle on Clinton Road for driving over the center yellow lines. The driver, a male 26-year-old from Hempstead, was subsequently arrested for DWI (.10 percent blood alcohol content), two lane violations and unlicensed operation.

Dec. 17: At 4:30 p.m., Officer Federlein cited a female 60-year-old from Mineola for leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident on Old Country Road and Franklin Avenue earlier in the day.

Dec. 17: Officer Reynolds arrested a female 48-year-old from Garden City for the theft of $112 in merchandise from Lord & Taylor.

Dec. 17: A female 47-year-old pedestrian from Old Westbury states that she was walking across Ring Road by Roosevelt Field Mall when she was struck by an unknown auto causing her to receive injuries to her hip and knee. The vehicle left the scene without stopping. The pedestrian was transported to Winthrop-University Hospital.

Dec. 17: Officers investigated an incident at Adelphi University where an unknown vehicle struck and damaged an unoccupied parked vehicle and a tree.

Dec. 18: Officer Sommer stopped a vehicle traveling on Clinton Road for no front plate and for missing a vehicle inspection sticker on the windshield. Upon an investigation, the driver, a male 29-year-old from Hempstead, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation for nine outstanding license suspensions, improper plates, unregistered auto, uninspected auto and uninsured operation.
