Crime Blotter: St. James Street South Home Ransacked

Police report an undetermined amount of property was removed from the residence.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

June 27: Officers responded to a report of a burglary alarm at a First Street residence and upon arrival observed a rear basement window damaged. There was no apparent entry into the residence. Garden City and Nassau County detectives are conducting an investigation into this matter.

June 27: Approximately, $2,000 in water main fittings were stolen from a Greenridge Avenue worksite.

June 27: A cell phone that was accidentally left in a bathroom at the Adelphi Library has been reported stolen.

June 27: Detectives are investigating an incident where an entrance door to a Stewart Avenue residence was forcibly entered and assorted jewelry, silverware and other personal items were found missing.

June 27: Officer Sommer stopped a vehicle for passing a red light at the intersection of Clinton Road and Stewart Avenue. Upon a license check of the driver, a male 48-year-old from Uniondale, the driver was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation for having three license suspensions, passing a red light, uninsured operation and for an outstanding Town of Hempstead code enforcement warrant.

June 28: While conducting a traffic investigation in the parking field of the school administration building, it was determined that the driver, a male 22-year-old from Elmont was operating a vehicle with three open license suspensions. He was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation.

June 28: A handicap permit was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in Parking Field # 7N.

June 28: Garden City detectives assisted Nassau County officers with the arrest of a male 23-year-old from Massapequa for an illegal weapons incident that occurred in Elmont.

June 28: While conducting traffic enforcement on Clinton Road, Officer Marceda stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver, a male 35-year-old from Queens, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation after it was determined that he had two open driver license suspensions.

June 29: An air conditioning unit to a rear room of a Pine Street residence was found pushed in and three laptop computers and assorted jewelry was taken from inside the house.

June 29: A Lefferts Road resident reports the theft of three ladders his property and two hubcaps from his vehicle.

June 29: An ongoing investigation by the Garden City detectives resulted in the arrest of two subjects on Rockaway Avenue for drug related charges. The first subject, a male 26-year-old from Garden City, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance (Xanax pills, heroin and cocaine). The second subject, a male 22-year-old from Farmingdale, was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

June 29: A shopper reports that she discovered her check book missing from inside her handbag while she was shopping in Sears.

June 29: An ongoing investigation by Garden City detectives resulted in the arrest of a subject on Cathedral Avenue for drug related charges. The subject, a male 29-year-old from Rosedale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (Aderall capsules and cocaine) and possession of a bag of marijuana.

June 30: The rear window to a St. James Street South residence was found shattered. Several rooms inside were found ransacked and an undetermined amount of property was removed from the residence.

June 30: Officer Oswald observed a vehicle on Clinton Road weaving from lane to lane and driving over the center hazard markings. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a male 42-year-old from New York, NY, was placed under arrest for felony DWI (.08 percent blood alcohol content) due to a prior DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation for driving with a suspended license based on a prior DWI, driving without a court ordered interlock device, driving in a no passing zone, unsafe lane changing and uninsured operation.

July 1: At approximately 10 p.m., two youths, ages 14 and 15, were cited for breaking lights in the Garden City Country Club underpass and were subsequently released to their parents.

July 2: Officer Walsh assisted a Nassau County probation officer with the arrest of a male 48-year-old from Westbury for driving while his license was revoked for a prior DWI. The subject was on probation for DWI and was responding to his appointment with his probation officer when he was observed driving his auto.
