Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection checkpoint on New Hyde Park Road.
The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Oct. 10: Upon a joint investigation by the Garden City Police Department and
Adelphi University Public Safety, Officer Wedra issued
appearance tickets to a male 27-year-old from Flushing and a male 22-year-old from Glen Cove for
violation of the village code for soliciting at Adelphi University. The
subjects were on campus handing out pamphlets advertising future
events at the Dublin Pub.
Oct. 10: The lock to a shed on a St. James St. South property was damaged by unknown means.
Oct. 11: Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection checkpoint on New Hyde Park Road, inspecting 12
vehicles, placing eight out of service, citing one for being overweight, citing two for brake violations, citing one for an unsecure load,
citing one for a hazardous material violation (fuel container uncovered),
citing one driver for having a suspended license and another cited for speeding on New Hyde Park Road.
Oct. 11: A license plate was reported lost or stolen from a vehicle parked on the Adelphi campus.
Oct. 11:
A wallet containing credit cards was reported stolen from a person’s
pocketbook while shopping in stores on Franklin Avenue.
Oct. 11: Someone damaged the rear bumper to a parked unoccupied vehicle at
Sears.
Oct. 12:
Upon their investigation, Garden City detectives arrested a male 30-year-old from
Brooklyn for the theft of six designer handbags from
Lord & Taylor
totaling $1,738 in value. The items were reported stolen on Oct. 10.
Oct. 12:
Officer Fracassa responded to a three-vehicle property damage accident
on Clinton Road where one of the vehicles left the scene without
stopping. Upon his investigation, Officer Fracassa subsequently arrested
a male 17-year-old from Hewlett after it was determined that he was the operator of
the vehicle that left the scene.

Oct. 15: Detectives are investigating an incident where a prescription pad was stolen from a Garden City Plaza doctor’s office.
Oct. 15: The department is investigating unauthorized charges exceeding $2,600 to a resident’s credit card account.
Oct. 15: A large pile of scrap wood was left in the loading bay of a Commercial Avenue business.
Oct. 15:
Officer Reilly arrested a female 26-year-old from Hempstead for the larceny of
several items totaling $986 in value from
Lord & Taylor. She was also
charged with possession of burglary tools for using a pair of scissors
to remove sensor tags from the merchandise.
Oct. 16:
The department is investigating a two-vehicle accident on Old Country
road where one of the vehicles, described as a dark color suburban, left
the scene without stopping.
