Police Blotter: Teen Arrested for Menacing, Goods Stolen From Sears

See what crimes and other incidents were reported this week in Garden City.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

May 24: Officers assisted the Garden City School District with an emergency evacuation drill conducted at the Stratford School.

May 30: As a result of an investigation of a domestic incident at a residence, Officer Hennessey arrested a 16-year-old young man for menacing, possession of a weapon, harassment and criminal mischief. The subject had allegedly pushed another family member against a wall, threatening to strike her with an object, and also broke several household items.

May 30: Graffiti was found on traffic signs on Grove Street.

May 31: Officer Walsh arrested a 29-year-old Hempstead woman for the theft of assorted jewelry items valued at $416 from Sears.

May 31: The department is investigating a criminal mischief complaint in which a window and shutters to a shed at the Garden City Community Park were damaged.

May 31: Detectives are investigating a property damage accident in Nassau County Parking Field #6, where a tan four-door sedan struck another vehicle and then left the scene without exchanging information.

June 1: A garbage receptacle was stolen from Parking Field 2S.

June 1: Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on New Hyde Park Road at Fairmont Boulevard.

June 1: As part of the nationwide "Click It or Ticket" campaign, officers conducted a passenger safety checkpoint on New Hyde Park Road, which resulted in the issuance of 17 tickets, 11 of which were for seatbelt and occupant safety violations.

June 2: A window to a Seventh Street office was found damaged due to a bottle being thrown at it.

June 2: Officers safeguarded several streets throughout the village for flooding conditions due to heavy rains.

June 3: Officers responded to a call of disorderly youths at the Country Life Press Railroad Station. Upon arrival, Officers Dallolio and Russell determined that a sign at the station was damaged. As a result of their investigation and with the assistance of the MTA Police, the officers arrested two males from Garden city, ages 19 and 22, for criminal mischief, and another 18-year-old Garden City male for trespassing on railroad property.

June 5: Garden City Officers assisted Nassau County Court Officers with emergency evacuation drills conducted at multiple county court buildings between Washington Avenue and County Seat Drive.

June 5: Officer Walsh arrested a 41-year-old Hempstead woman for the theft of sunglasses, jewelry and shoes from Sears. The items total value was $175.

June 6: A laptop computer was stolen from a business office in a Franklin Avenue office building.
