Garden City police have released a mug shot of the suspect wanted for the occupied home invasion on Third Street Thursday night.
Detectives state Artie Jackson, 46, with a last known address in Hempstead, is wanted for first degree burglary.
On Nov. 8, four Garden City homes within the
Central section were burglarized. One was an occupied burglary where a
weapon was displayed and shots fired into the ceiling. No
one was injured but police state Jackson fled with many personal belongings, including the family's car which was later recovered in Hempstead.
The prior evening, on Nov. 7, a similar occupied burglary
occurred within the Cathedral Gardens section of the Village of
Hempstead.

These days, I see home invasion stories in the news way too often. Usually intruders just kick-in the door. In my opinion, the most effective and least expensive thing you can do to protect yourself is to add good door security hardware to your doors to make them as secure as possible. You can get what's called a Door Security Pro ( http://www.DoorSecurityPro.com ) which will stop door kick-ins. It's a long, thick metal plate that reinforces wooden door frames which is what usually breaks when someone kicks in a door.

Kerry that is awful. Three houses on my block were robbed by him on Thurs night and my next door neighbor and his family were robbed at gunpoint and shot at by this piece of garbage. We were sitting ducks with no power. Our block has been shaken. We weren't his first victims or his last. Terrible!!
