CPOA Nominates Brudie For Village Trustee

CPOA Nominating Committee vote is unanimous for the current sitting trustee and first deputy mayor.

The Nominating Committee of the Central Property Owners' Association (CPOA) has unanimously selected sitting village trustee and first deputy mayor Donald T. Brudie as its candidate for village trustee for the 2010-2012 term. Brudie and his wife, Barbara, are residents of the village for over 30 years.

Trustee Brudie, a practicing attorney, has a career that includes work in both the private and public sectors. He has served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and in the New York Guard as a JAG officer. He is a member of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick with the City of New York, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion (National).

In addition, Brudie has served as director on the boards of several charitable organizations, as well as on the CPOA board for more than 10 years. As village trustee, he presently serves as first deputy mayor, police commissioner, chairman of the Traffic Commission and on the Executive Compensation Committee. Previously during his five years as a trustee, Brudie served as commissioner of Public Works, commissioner of Building and Planning, liaison officer to the Environmental Advisory Board, the Architectural Design Review Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Historical Society, the Board of Cultural and Recreation Affairs, the Traffic Commission and the Committee of Public Information.

The Brudies have four children: a lawyer, two investment bankers and a physician, all of whom are graduates of St. Joseph's School and Garden City High School. Two of their children are Garden City residents and they presently have three grandchildren, two of whom attend Regis High School and Stewart School.

The following members of the CPOA Nominating Committee brought forth the unanimous vote for Donald T. Brudie as candidate for village trustee from the Central section: Tom Simpson, chairperson, and committee members H. Arthur Anderson, Kathleen Horton, John McKay III, Wayne Muscarella and Joseph J.Ortego.
