Assemblyman Ed Ra to Address Republican Club

On Wednesday, February 8, Assemblyman Ed Ra will join members and their guests at the next meeting of the Garden City Republican Club at the Garden City Senior Recreation Center, corner of Eleventh Street and Golf Club Lane beginning at 8 PM.  "We are so pleased Ed can join us this month," remarked Club President Arthur Anderson.  "The current proposed new district lines gives Ed Ra nearly 100% representation of Garden City as our Assemblyman for the next ten years. So while Ed currently represents those residing in the south west section of Garden City, should this proposal remain unchanged, most residents can expect to be seeing more of Ed in our Village," Anderson continued.

Ed Ra was elected in 2010 to represent the people of the 21st district which covers the west side of Garden City, south of the Stewart Manor Railroad Station and just west of the Edgemere Road. Ed graduated from Loyola College, received his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law and his LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in N.Y., N.J. and Pennsylvania. Previously, Ra has served as the Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Hempstead and as a legal aide in the Office of the New York State Attorney General. Ed is a lifelong resident of Franklin Square, where he lives with his wife, Laura.

The membership has planned an evening of "Decadent Desserts" thinking with Valentines Day just around the corner we can all indulge a little more. Guests can expect to be tempted by delicious homemade cookies, brownies, apple pie and assorted cakes. Club Member, Marie Lombardi is helping to coordinate those baking and offered, "This will be one meeting folks will want to take something more home with them and not just what they learned from the guest speaker." "Of course, that is if there is anything yummy left," she chuckled.
