BREAKING: Additional Power Outages Cancel School Thursday

All public schools, St. Anne's, St. Joe's and Waldorf School are closed Thursday.

Update: St. Joe's School is also closed Thursday.

All Garden City public schools will be closed Thursday because Wednesday's Nor'easter knocked out power in several district buildings.

According to an email from superintendent of schools Dr. Robert Feirsen, sent to district parents just after 10 p.m. Wednesday, "We do not know if power can be restored before morning. In the interest of everyone's safety, we are therefore canceling school for tomorrow, Thursday, November 8th."

There won't be any before or after school activities either.

"We are deeply sorry to have yet another cancellation, but I appreciate your understanding and cooperation--we all share the belief that safety is most important," Dr. Feirsen said.

Waldorf School and St. Anne's will also be closed Thursday due to the inclement weather.

St. Joe's School, according to its website, will run on a two-hour delay and open at 10 a.m. "All Garden City Buses will run on a 2 hour delayed schedule," according to the message.
