Ground-and-Pound: Rushing Frenzy Leads Trojans Past Colts

A four-headed monster compiled six touchdowns on the ground for Garden City.

Four players rushed for at least 68 yards Saturday as the Garden City football team beat Calhoun High School 58-7. 

Leading the way for the Trojans was Tim Schmelzinger, who amassed 103 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries. Danny Miller had three touchdowns to go with his 93 yards on the ground, and Brian Haeffner had 84 yards and a score.

Brett Stewart rounded out the top four with 68 yards on eight carries and a TD.

According to Newsday, with the Trojans already leading 44-7 in the third, Haeffner returned a kick-off 99 yards for a touchdown, breaking a 60-year old school record set by Ross Farquharson.
