Top Pick From The High Top Shop: Generosity

Cause provided more than 80 students with new backpacks filled with school supplies for the new term.

Here is this week's Top Pick from The Andy Foundation: Once again our item of the week is your generosity! We sincerely thank all the wonderful people who donated school supplies for our annual backpack drive, once again it was a smashing success!

Demonstrating the theme "it takes a village," hundreds of Garden City area residents came together to support The Andy Foundation's recent backpack drive for the children of COTA members.

John Casey and his staff offered McGeever's Pub for a very special Andy Foundation Takes Over... event. Nearly a dozen representatives of The Andy Foundation served refreshments to a packed house of supporters on a night of great fun for a great cause.

All tips from the evening were donated, along with a portion of McGeever's proceeds.

With ample funds in hand, volunteers journeyed to Staples on Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park, where manager Steve Connelly and his staff provided outstanding service in gathering the necessary items to provide more than 80 students with new backpacks filled with school supplies for the new term.

Supplies were also collected by Jessica and her staff at Intuition Salon on 7th. The backpacks were then delivered to The Council of Thought and Action in Hempstead to be distributed to school age children of COTA members.

COTA is designed to help community members reach for and connect with existing resources to help improve their lives and their community. It began and is supported by DA Kathleen Rice's Hempstead initiative, and meetings are led by Assistant DA Risco Mention-Lewis.

The Andy Foundation is so appreciative of all the different supporters who came together to see that the kids can have a great start to their school year!
