SUZIE ALVEY creates original, artistic family heirlooms.  Her unique art is perfect for a special gift for any occasion, for yourself, or for your business.  All her artwork- portraits and calligraphy- is done by hand.  No computers or machines are used.  Suzie has been an artist for over 30 years.
 Through Suzie's love of architecture, she has painted hundreds of treasured HOUSE PORTRAITS from San Francisco to Switzerland.  With an eye for detail, Suzie's paintings and drawings are in many collections, including those of famous author, Nelson DeMille; Garth Snow, the manager of the Islanders team; and former Nassau County Executive, Tom Gulotta,  Garden City Village Hall and the Chamber of Commerce.  Suzie Alvey's CALLIGRAPHY commissions include hundreds of brides for their weddings, Bat/Bar Mitzvahs, company certificates and awards.  She has done calligraphy for Fox 5 News in Manhattan, Polo Ralph Lauren and others.  Ms. Alvey is also available for PORTRAITS of loved ones.  She works from life, but can also arrange for photo sessions where she will take photos to achieve the most flattering angles for each client.  Suzie Alvey studied with Dan Slapo, PSA (Master Pastellist- Pastel Society of America); John Rogers, AWS (American Watercolor Society); and Marion Brown, AWS.  She became a juried member of the Art League of Nassau County in 1987.    In addition to her artwork, in 2010 Ms. Alvey joined www.Patch.com as a freelance writer specializing in articles about the arts and culture in Garden City.  Her column is entitled "Art & Music Now" which features stories in art, music, photography and theater.  Suzie received the "Women of Distinction Award" from New York State Assemblyman, Tom McKevitt in 2009.  She has supported many charities over the years.   Ms. Alvey is married to Robert Alvey, founder of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary, and is one of their Directors.   She is an active member of the Garden City Historical Society. Suzie and Robert have 3 daughters who also enjoy painting and drawing- Alexis, Erin and K.C.
