Cops ID East Garden City Shooting Victim

Queens man one of two Savenergy employees targeted by Sang Ho Kim, a vendor angry over what police believe to be a business deal gone bad.

The victim fatally shot Wednesday in East Garden City after a disgruntled vendor opened fire in a local lighting company has been identified as Zachariah Yong Jae Shin, 25, of Whitestone, Queens.

Shin was one of two Savenergy employees targeted by Sang Ho Kim, angry over what police believe to be a business deal gone bad. The second victim, John Hyng Choi underwent surgery at Nassau University Medical Center where he remains in the ICU, according to published reports.

Kim is still at large. His getaway car, a white Honda Pilot, was located late Wednesday in the Philipstown area of western Putnam County where more than 100 law enforcement officials have joined the manhunt.

Resources have ranged from air to ground to maritime, Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith said at a press conference with Michael Kopy of the New York State Police, April Brooks of the FBI and others officials Thursday afternoon in Cold Spring, NY.

Canine teams were also deployed to comb the area, which is heavily wooded and located along the Hudson River.
