New York Running Company Moving into Garden City

Visible progress at Seventh Street's Almaviva.

It's official: New York Running Company is moving into Garden City.

The store sign is up and crews were seen working Tuesday inside the store.

According to John Wilton, chair of the Merchant Professional & Retailers group, there is a total of 15,000 square feet of retail space at the Almaviva, a mixed-use property located at 191 Seventh Street, at the corner of Seventh Street and Franklin Avenue. The national athletic footwear chain will occupy 3,000 square feet.

Men's and women's clothing, shoes and gear will be sold. Other locations include two in Manhattan, and one in Bronxville, NY, Rye, NY and Greenwich, CT. The Garden City location is the first on Long Island. No word yet on what other stores will be located in the new building.

One- and two-bedroom units are available for rent on the two upper floors. The apartments, most of which have terraces, will have a washer/dryer, hardwood floors, granite countertops and GE stainless appliances. All 14 units come with a parking space and personal storage space, according to Prudential Douglas Elliman.
